Beach Dogs,
This weeks practice...
During the past 40 years this club has been it's strongest when we had members from as far north as Santa Cruz, and as far south as Monterey (give or take) showing up for practice. This practice, not surprisingly, was located in a central location. Back in the day when the club was based in Watsonville, the team was a competitive D1 side with three full squads. It is this clubs number one goal to find and pay for a lighted practice facility in the Watsonville area, for the benefit of all of us, and to ensure this clubs longterm survival. Those efforts are ongoing and we are expecting an answer soon (I have meetings on Monday.) Until that happens we need to alternate practice between the north and south on a weekly basis.
This means that this weeks coaches practice will be held at DLI in Monterey this Wednesday from 7:30. The season only lasts for 16 weeks, so the maximum time you will make this journey is only 8 times, and that is worse case as we are actively looking for a central spot in Watsonville.
Please make every effort possibile to show-up, and let's continue the hard work we did last week.
Location: You will need to enter DLI using the Bolio Gate, and you will need to bring some ID, and your cars registration.
Pvt Bolio GatePvt Bolio Rd Make sure your name is on this list before you show-up: LINK

| | More info | The grand final of the 2011 Rugby World Cup is now set and it will be France taking on the hosts New Zealand. Come to the London Bridge this Sunday at noon to watch the game with fellow Rugby fans.
This is the same two teams that met in the 1987 final also hosted in New Zealand, where New Zealand won their first and only world cup title to date 29-9.
In 1991 England beat group rivals Australia only to eventually lose to them in the finals. Will this happen again this year?
France has had one of the strangest tournaments of any world cup, losing twice in the pool stages to their final opponents New Zealand and to qualifying nation Tonga. Since the knockout stages France have been a different team beating England 19-12, and a tight encounter against Wales in the semi-finals winning 9-8.
New Zealand have had injuries in the fly-half position losing Dan Carter after the pool stages, and then losing replacement Colin Slade after the quarter-final win against Argentina 33-10. Senior All Black Piri Weepu has certainly stepped up to show his class helping New Zealand win 20-6 in the semi-final against Australia.
New Zealand have been the most dominant force of the tournament and look well on their way to repeating history by winning in Auckland this Sunday, However with the unpredictability of the French certainly anything can happen.
We will have Beach Dog gear for sale at this event!

Beachdogs,
As you all know the 2011-12 rugby season is fast approaching us, and on behalf of the club's committee I wanted to send you some updated information:
1. CIPP (USA Rugby insurance): All players must be CIPP'ed before they can play for us NO EXCEPTIONS. If you haven't done this yet visit this link and pay your registration for the season. You will need to register under the team Monterey Rugby Football Club Beachdogs. http://www.usarugby.org
2. Baracus 10's: We are entering two teams for this years tournament on Saturday, October 29th. Everyone is invited to come and play. More information will follow, so for now just save the date. The tournament will be held at Oceanview Park and Rec Center in San Francisco, CA. First match kicks off at 9am. The cost for this will be $20/person. Go here for more info about the event: http://baracusrugby.com/schedule/halloween-tens-tournament/
3. Practice location: The committee members have been working their tail's off trying to find somewhere to practice. For now we have Aptos Polo grounds on Monday's. Expect to hear an announcement about our new location soon. We are waiting for Softball leagues, and High School Football team's to finish.
That is all for now, as soon as we get more info regarding practice and anything else worth emailing, we will send it.
Thanks,
King James
